The LGBTQ Center of Durham’s mission is to create a community where all LGBTQ+ lived experiences are affirmed, supported, and celebrated. We support LGBTQ+ people through services, programming, resources, and support networks that center their wellbeing and allow them to thrive. The Southern Queer Survivor Network (SQSN), an anti-violence program within the LGBTQ+ Center, serves queer and trans survivors of relationship abuse in all 100 counties of North Carolina. The Center and SQSN are hiring a Survivor Services Coordinator to provide relationship violence response services to LGBTQ+ survivors across North Carolina.
Position Description:
The Survivor Services Coordinator is responsible for providing emotional and logistical support to survivors of relationship violence, including intimate partner violence, sexual assault, stalking, and harm from family members and roommates. The person in this role will work with clients to help them determine their goals related to survivorship, and provide them support as they navigate complicated systems. The Coordinator will also network with other programs at the Center and in survivors’ communities to provide survivors with the holistic support they deserve. In collaboration with other SQSN staff, the Coordinator will educate community partners about the root causes of violence against queer and trans communities and the service needs that arise from these inequities. Finally, the Coordinator will work with SQSN and Center leadership to inform our continued development of survivor services. Duties:
- Provide advocacy for clients who have experienced relationship violence
- Conduct intakes for new clients and determine service plans
- Co-create safety plans that center harm reduction with clients
- Co-facilitate client support groups
- Support clients in navigating complicated systems, including housing and criminal legal systems
- Help disperse direct funds to clients using an economic justice framework
- Connect clients with other programs and resources at the Center
- Document client interactions in a timely manner
- Conduct trainings for community partners and collaborations
- Provide tabling and outreach activities at Center and community events
- Participate in program evaluation activities
- Lead or support projects at the intersection of candidate interest and program needs
- Contribute to the general operations of the Center
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience providing direct services, preferably in or with LGBTQ+ communities. Graduate coursework may substitute for direct practice experience.
- Knowledge of victim services provision, specifically in domestic violence, stalking, and sexual assault response
- Experience holding support groups or facilitating group spaces • Investment in values of client autonomy and self-determination
- Unwavering dedication to client confidentiality
- Ability to maintain boundaries when working in a close-knit community
- Existing personal and professional coping skills and supportive networks
- Demonstrated commitment to anti-racism
- Enthusiasm for working in an LGBTQ-autonomous environment

Additional Information:
This is a full-time, exempt position. The Center’s typical work hours are 10-6pm. The Coordinator will have a hybrid schedule, with 2 remote days and 3 in-person days at our office @ 1007 Broad Street Durham, NC 27705. Some evening and weekend work is required, and occasional in-state travel may be necessary.

Applications will be accepted through November 30, 2024 but may be reviewed on a rolling basis. The application process consists of materials review, a 30-minute screening interview for select candidates, and a 1-2 hour team interview for finalists.
